#72 The Garden Wall

As Is What Was is a collection of poems created with no thought at all. None. There is no control over grammar, sound, rhythm, idea, or anything really. Why? I thought it would be fun. Is it insane? Absolutely.

I happened to cross a man the other day

He was engaged in tearing down a wall

I’m afraid curiosity got the better of me

I asked him why

“It shouldn’t be here,” said he

Naturally, I asked him how he’d go about it

“I’m going to push it down

I don’t want it destroying my garden, you see

Now please excuse me, I’m busy”

So I bid him good day

And as I passed the wall

I saw on the other side another man

Also pushing desperately at the wall

I asked him what he was doing

“I don’t like this wall,” he said

“But it’s falling. And if anything

It’s not going to ruin my garden.”
