#41 Bag For Life

As Is What Was is a collection of poems created with no thought at all. None. There is no control over grammar, sound, rhythm, idea, or anything really. Why? I thought it would be fun. Is it insane? Absolutely.

The rivers run blue

Marigolds and diamonds

And Stevie was playing guitar and letting off a shotgun

In shotgun

And the hummingbirds were mad

But we headed from Piccadilly after we picked lilies

To the pick a pretty sound

That’s what it’s about

No radio. No jock. Just a tennis ball

Being bounced in the back

And a hop skip and jump

Chalked pavements and faded lines

And drawings of superheroes

And carrefour bag for life

Bagged for life

Bagged up lives

Broke out of the hive

With honey in tow

Headed for the hundred acre wood

They couldn’t catch us

And there ain’t a sun

Worth this

Not a single one
