A Letter To My Future

This is an assignment from my Philosophy Class. I thought I would share it with you all..

Dear Future Me,

There is a possibility that you will remember the contents of this letter. However there is a greater chance that you have changed the way you perceive life and the way you want to live it. Of course, there are so many ambitions I have and I like to picture myself as being an idol to the world and being rich and famous. But more importantly, there are things I want to really accomplish in life.

There was a time when You/I wanted to be a fireman. Then it changed to being a detective. For a little while we also wanted to be a dog-walker. We also wanted to be a PokéMaster. I still do. I wonder if you do too. I mean, come on! Who doesn’t want to be a PokéMaster?

Anyway, on a more serious note. At this point in life, I don’t know whether I want to be a Journalist or a Psychologist. I do know that I definitely want to become an Author. Maybe somewhere down the line, my vision changes. Only you know what happens. I only hope that whatever happens is for the better. I don’t think I have any advice to give. If there is to be any exchange of advice, you would be the one giving it to me. I just have some ambitions.

Firstly, I hope you worked hard, played hard, got into the college of your dreams and and are happy with where you are in life. I hope you married the girl of your dreams and that the relationship the both of you are happy. I hope that you have never smoked and that you’ve stayed away from drugs.

I really hope that the career in writing has continued and that The Poet in Pyjamas is still alive and kicking. I also hope you’ve realised the dream of starting an Environmental Protection Organisation and working on it constantly. It would also be cool if you have a yacht and a private plane that run on bio-fuel! But seriously, I hope that you have given something back to the world. No matter what shit they have thrown and will throw at you. I hope you have maintained your virtues and that you still have that link to your childhood that makes it possible for the writer in you to make use of that wild imagination.

Most importantly, I hope that you have realised and understood the concept that we created. For it is important to understand our life from the beginning until its end.

I know that it does not end here. There are a thousand thoughts on my mind but I cannot pinpoint them all and put them into this letter. If there is any advice I can give you, or hope that you have always taken into consideration, then there are these two things: 1) Be Yourself and; 2) Just like your Great Grandpa said – “Whatever you do in life, be the best of all”

Cheers mate!

Your Past Self,

Arnav
